The real name being Mu Ko Lanta National Park, the park was established as a marine park in 1990, situated in the southern part of Krabi Province. The park consists of several islands covering an area of 134 km².
The biggest islands in the park are Ko Lanta Noi and Ko Lanta Yai. "Mu" in thai means a group/group of, "Mu Ko" means group of islands. There is more to see on some of the other smaller islands than on the main island.
There are 16 major islands in the park, of which the biggest is at Ko Lanta Yai (only the southern tip of the park is part of the national park). While nearly 20 km² of the national park is rainforest, Ngu, Mai Ngam and Mai Ngam Tai islands are covered with mangrove forest. Parts of Ngai Island (Ko Ngai) is covered with beach forest.
Railay Beach is an outstanding beach with beautiful features with limestone cliffs. The beach is divided into 3 parts: railay beach West that is surrounded by limestone cliffs, where it is possible to swim and also a point to watch the sunset. Railay Beach East has a famous activity that is popular with foreign tourists, which is rock climbing. This is because at the end of the beach, there is a limestone cliff with a height suitable for rock climbing. Phra Nang Cave Beach, which is the location of Phra Nang Cave. Inside there is a shrine of Phra Nang that sailors in this area respect and worship. When entering the cave and looking out, tourists will see the mouth of the cave with stalactites descending to form an attractive chandelier, and it is also another beautiful sunset viewpoint. Getting there: Take a passenger boat (Hua Tong boat) at Ao Nang and Noppharat Thara Beaches. The fare is 100 Baht/ person/trip, and the journey takes about 20 minutes. Boats are available all day morning-evening.
Koh Phi Phi or Phi Phi Islands are located in the middle of the Andaman sea, 42 km away from Amphoe Mueang. It is a part of Nopharat Thara Beach – Phi Phi Islands national park which contains 2 big islands – Koh Phi Phi Don and Koh Phi Phi Le, and 4 smaller islands nearby – Koh Yung, Koh Mai Phai, Koh Pida Nok and Koh Pida Nai.
Koh Phi Phi also features a vibrant nightlife, with Tonsai Beach containing dozens of beach bars and restaurants and lively Tonsai Village consisting of a maze of shops, bars, and restaurants. Phangnga has geographic features of mountains and forests and is 788 km from Bangkok. Its Landmark is Khao Chang which is the big mountain in a shape of crouching elephant – the symbol of Phangnga province. Visitors can go exploring beautiful Caves such as Ruesi Sawan cave and Luk Suea cave in Somdet Phra Sri Nakarin Park, Khao Chang road. The word “Lipe” comes from the language of the Urak Lawoi people meaning “a sheet of paper” because the island has a flat area and no high mountains. It is located about 2 kilometres south of ko Adang. The highlight of Ko Lipe is the nature of the coral surrounding the island, beautiful bays, and soft sandy beaches. The main beaches comprise: - Hat Pattaya or Hat Banda Ya has a concave shape and fine white sand. It is the busiest beach because it is full of facilities for tourists, e.g., walking streets, resorts, restaurants, transfer points for passenger boats, and excursion boats to different islands. - Hat Sunrise or Hat Chao Le is a beach where you can watch the beautiful sunrise with fine white sand.
